Polunnio is a specialist in design, layout and publishing focusing on railway technology and industrial history.
Using Adobe Creative Cloud programs including InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat and Photoshop we use our knowledge and experience to create clearly understood, interesting and attractive printed and online materials.
Working with both PC and Apple hardware, we are expert users of the full Office suite of software, and are competent in server-side systems ranging from WordPress, through to file management solutions, webmail servers and tailored link shorteners.

edit
Whilst we’re quite happy to work with fully edited copy, we are also able to help with anything from sense checking or a light edit, through to a full proof-read. Typically we will start with a Word document and a few hand drawn, PowerPoint or Visio diagrams, and convert this into polished content ready for the design stage.
We are used to, and enjoy, working with our clients, their third-party editors and agencies, to deliver the best outcome.

design
We can use your logo, brand colours and templates, or create something new that showcases your work, and makes it accessible to your audience.
Very often we will redraw diagrams so that they print perfectly in the finished document, or use colours in a different way to make complex ideas more understandable.
We always work to create full templates, making the most of styles, swatches and design elements that can be used again for later work. This design is then the basis of the lay out stage.

lay out
We consider who the audience for your project is, and what form of publishing will be used.
Most of our projects use Adobe’s powerful, and industry-standard, publishing software InDesign.
Where photography is available we will confirm that it is of acceptable quality, and use Photoshop to ensure that each image looks as good as it can do on the page. Where appropriate we can source and licence stock photography from platforms such as Alamy, Shutterstock, iStock, Unsplash or Pixabay. We can work with you to make sure that this doesn’t break the budget.
We can create easily navigated contents pages and indexes, even for complex work. We are used to dealing with references for articles too, and can support their publication online if there isn’t space in the document itself. Where appropriate, we can help you with QR codes, bar codes, shortened links and ISBN numbers.
Creating covers and books for magazines, reports and books is all part of our day-to-day work, often one of the most interesting parts of a project for us.

publish
Finally, when your document is ready for the presses or online publication, we can support you through this stage. We work with a number of digital and offset litho printers, and are happy to arrange this, or to work with your existing suppliers.
Producing high quality, press-ready PDFs, we can share these with the printers in a number of ways. We are familiar with print specifications and paper stock options, and can manage anything from a simple single page pamphlet or short booklet, right up to a textbook with 500 pages.
We can also provide you the files you need for online publication, ensuring that the navigation, bookmarking and hyperlinking is exactly what you need.
